In recognition of their outstanding contributions to humanitarian service and social responsibility, S M Badrul Alam, Acting President of the Mirpur Press Club, and Shihab Uddin, General Secretary of the club, have been awarded the “Humanitarian Award.” The honor was conferred by the international human rights organization Human Rights Review Society.
At a formal ceremony, the honorary pins were presented to the award recipients by Talukdar Rumi, Chief Adviser of the Mirpur Press Club and Editor of the daily Panjeree, along with Saimon, Central Director and Dhaka Divisional President of the Human Rights Review Society.
Speaking at the award ceremony, the speakers emphasized that journalism is not merely about reporting news; standing up for humanity and giving voice to the oppressed lies at the very core of true journalism. Through their professional responsibilities as well as their humanitarian initiatives, S M Badrul Alam and Shihab Uddin have set inspiring examples for society.
Under their leadership, the Mirpur Press Club has continued to play an active role in safeguarding journalists’ rights, raising social awareness, and engaging in humanitarian activities. Guests at the event remarked that this award is not only a recognition of two individuals, but also a reflection of the collective humanitarian spirit of the Mirpur Press Club.
While accepting the award, S M Badrul Alam and Shihab Uddin stated that the recognition has further increased their sense of responsibility. They reaffirmed their commitment to upholding journalistic ethics and continuing to work in favor of humanity in the days ahead.
The ceremony was held in a lively and dignified atmosphere, with journalists and human rights activists in attendance warmly applauding the initiative.
