Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has expressed profound gratitude to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Dr. Wan Azizah binti Wan Ismail, for their warm welcome and generous hospitality during his first state visit to Malaysia.
In a statement, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, said they were deeply touched by the friendship, goodwill, and sincere gestures extended by the Government and people of Malaysia.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stated that his discussions with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim reaffirmed the enduring and historic bonds between Bangladesh and Malaysia. He emphasized that the relationship between the two countries goes beyond diplomatic engagement and is rooted in a shared commitment to greater cooperation, mutual prosperity, and regional progress.
He noted that Bangladesh-Malaysia relations date back several decades, recalling the period when his father, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, served as the President of Bangladesh and his mother, Begum Khaleda Zia, served as the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister also conveyed his sincere appreciation to His Majesty the King of Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim ibni Sultan Iskandar, for the warmth and courtesy extended during their meeting.
Highlighting the importance of bilateral and multilateral relations, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said Bangladesh greatly values its partnership with Malaysia and takes pride in the strong people-to-people connections that bind the two nations across various sectors and walks of life.
Following his first official state visit as Prime Minister, Tarique Rahman expressed optimism about working closely with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to further strengthen the multifaceted partnership between Bangladesh and Malaysia and to advance mutual interests in the years ahead.
