A delegation led by the Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Bangladesh paid a courtesy visit to the Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), marking a significant step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation on urban challenges.
During the meeting, both sides engaged in productive discussions focusing on two critical issues affecting city residents—mosquito control and sustainable waste management. Recognizing the growing public health risks posed by mosquito-borne diseases, the U.S. Embassy expressed its interest in supporting DNCC with technical expertise and best practices to enhance ongoing mosquito control initiatives.
In addition, the discussion highlighted the urgent need for modern and efficient waste management systems to ensure a cleaner and healthier urban environment. The DNCC Administrator emphasized the city corporation’s commitment to improving waste collection, disposal, and recycling processes, while welcoming collaboration with international partners.
The U.S. delegation appreciated DNCC’s efforts and assured continued cooperation in implementing innovative and sustainable solutions. Both parties agreed to work closely in the coming days to develop and execute joint programs aimed at reducing mosquito breeding grounds and improving overall waste management across Dhaka North.
This collaboration is expected to bring positive changes to urban living standards and reinforce the longstanding partnership between Bangladesh and the United States in addressing environmental and public health challenges.
